RIKA - Peru
The RIKA Collection was established in 2004 by industrial designer Ricardo Geldres Piumatti and plastic artist Kareen Nishimura Doy. RIKA is dedicated to the design and development of products manufactured with unconventional materials, rescuing artisan techniques and adding playfulness to each singular idea. The duo, who both teach at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica in Lima, make use of materials by reusing, adapting and recycling them in an innovative way.
This family of handmade eco-friendly Robots are made of recycled cardboard, cups, bottle caps, and bolts. Available in 3 sizes.

DFC - Mexico City
With Mexico City urbanites Tony Moxham and Mauricio Paniagua comes a Fantasia-esque world of glittering unicorns and fluorescent Chihuahuas. The duo, who has come together to form their design company DFC, is dedicated to the marrying of traditional Mexican techniques and styles with modern design to create objects for home and commercial use. They collaborate with artisans and families from all across Mexico using materials such as aluminum, hand-blown glass, ceramics, fiberglass, silver, and fur. These collaborators utilize techniques that have remained unchanged for generations. Though the technical production remains traditional, the resulting product does not... with a manifesto bulleting "myths and magic", "pretty, big, bright, shiny things" and "absence of minimalism". We caught them at the NY International Gift Show and fell in love with their poppy, energetic booth.
